Animal Complaint Information
14-Jul-2010
Animal Complaint Information: In the event that a loose dog chases, menaces, or attacks homeowners should file a complaint so that the offending animal(s) can be dealt with appropriately.
In accordance with MSB Title 24, and the Settler’s Bay CC&R's & Rules, Animal Owners may not allow an animal to annoy any person. All dogs are to be leashed or otherwise restrained at all times when outdoors. You have three choices :
1. Fill out an Animal Complaint Form. http://ww1.matsugov.us/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_view&gid=2129&tmpl=component&format=raw&Itemid=224 You must deliver or fax the form to MSB ANIMAL CONTROL yourself. The MSB will not respond or act upon 3rd party information.
An Animal Control Officer will respond to you and proceed in accordance with the provisions of Title 24. Code can be viewed online at www.matsugov.us , Borough code.
2. File a written complaint with the HOA: Complaints should be for "repeat offenders" only. Any pet can escape or bark once in a while, and it is not the intention of the covenants or the HOA that a one-time incident be dealt with in a severe manner. Complaints are reserved for chronic-problem animals only. Your Name: Your E-mail Address (optional): Physical Address: Your Telephone # : Breed of Animal (if known): Size of Animal: Color of Animal: Where animal normally resides (Physical Address) : Date You Observed the incident: Please describe incident: The HOA will contact the offending dog-owner in writing to advise of the violation and to request that they correct the problem. Most residents will respond positively to a note from the HOA and correct the problem, however if they do not, the HOA is not empowered to enforce MSB code. You MUST exercise the other option and file a complaint directly with MSB Animal Control.
3. You can do both of the above.
***MSB ANIMAL CONTROL WILL NOT ACCEPT OR ACT UPON COMPLAINTS BROUGHT ONLY TO THE HOA. IF YOU WANT ANIMAL CONTROL TO INTERVENE, YOU MUST FILE A COMPLAINT YOURSELF WITH THEM*** Matanuska-Susitna Borough Animal Care and Regulation 746-5500 Monday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

It relies on cooperation between the police, the media, and the general community to provide a flow of information about crime and criminals. Mat-Su CrimeStoppers select a Crime of the Week, which is published in the local newspapers as well as radio and television. Calls are received at a local CrimeStoppers telephone. The police CrimeStoppers liaison receives the information then evaluates it, makes initial inquiries, and then passes all information on to the investigating officer. No information regarding the identity of the caller is given to the investigating officer. Because the caller is not required to give their name, CrimeStoppers allows the caller to give information in a positive atmosphere without the prospect of retribution. By offering cash rewards for information leading to arrests, the program encourages otherwise reluctant callers to volunteer information. Callers may be eligible for rewards.
